On Top Of Old Smokey

On top of old Smokey, all covered with snow,

I lost my true lover, a-courting too slow.

A thief will just rob you and take what you have,

But a false-hearted lover will lead you to the grave.

Now that we've indulged in the silly tragicness of life,

let's have a little bit of heavy-duty serious silly...

“I am silliness!”

Loud, I proclaim—

not borrowed, not taught,

not anybody's name!

“I'm goofy, I'm gleeful,

I'm wild, I am free,

the wackiest, silliest,

version of me!”

“I am silliness! I am silliness!”

Not a method, not learned—just buried-deep bliss!

Before shame ever told me that silly was small.

“I am silliness,” underneath it all!

I got it!
