Selfishness: I Need It From Others

To work for me there's one rule you must meet,

You must enjoy the work, not just get your fee.

The money gets you here, but that's not enough,

Not enjoying what you do, that's deal-killer stuff.

Enjoyment isn't extra, it's a baseline I set,

A thriving in the work, not survival just to get.

The pleasure flows back to me, and that much is true,

A bond of mutuality, between me and you.

Starves the work of its spark, with pleasure as mere chance.

The best of what you offer never finds its way,

When tolerance for money is the price you pay.

Not burning through the people who sustain what you do.

The Pyrrhicist will sacrifice both self and the bond,

But I want what lasts past this moment and beyond.
