The wise, kind, and cruel all have something to teach,

If you open your eyes to the lessons they preach.

 

Even the ones who have stirred up your pain,

Have something to offer, a gift in that strain.

The friction they bring is a mirror for thee,

For a part of yourself to feel fully free.

 

Place no one else high on that pedestal's throne,

For idols will never fit you better than your own.

The glow that you see in another's bright light,

Just your inner flame, burning strong through the night.
