“I Trust Everybody”
I trust everybody — yes, every last body,
I love what blossoms and accept what is shoddy.
Each person is different, that’s part of the game,
No outcomes betray me, no loss is a shame.
She may or may not show on Saturday at four,
But I've opened my heart and I've opened my door.
I welcome the chance that she’ll walk in true blue,
And I'm fine if she doesn't — I’ll welcome that too.
My assistant in Kunming, I trusted her well,
With passwords and power — and still I could tell
A sliver of risk was still quietly there,
But I held it with peacefulness, open and square.
Even love, even loyalty, there’s always a chance,
I don't close my eyes to those risks in the dance.
If she strays, I won't crumble, I won't feel deceived,
For I’ve never denied what could be conceived.
I trust everybody — yes, every last body,
I love what blossoms and accept what is shoddy.
Each person is different, that’s part of the game,
No outcomes betray me, no loss is a shame.
When I shut out the risk and pretend all is clear,
I'm setting up myself — the “traitor” is right here.
It's not life that deceives me, not others at fault,
It's the lies I told myself — those real deal assaults.
The betrayals we suffer come from those “shoulds,”
Toxic declarations of “badness” and “goods.”
When Now breaks a promise that Next swore was true,
It's the House of Good and Bad shining right through.
I trust everybody — yes, every last body,
I love what blossoms and accept what is shoddy.
Each person is different, that’s part of the game,
No outcomes betray me, no loss is a shame.
I trust everybody — yes, every last body,
I love what blossoms and accept what is shoddy.
Each person is different, that’s part of the game,
No outcomes betray me, no loss is a shame.
