“I Am Powerless”
"You are powerless," the truth that most will dare not say,
The world we built kept fighting it, kept forcing every way.
Yet the truth of what is real declares it clearly by its name,
"You are powerless," and in that truth there is no cause for shame.
"I am powerless," I say it and I mean it all the way,
Not defeat, not giving up, not running out of things to say.
The one who grips the armrest tight is lost before the fall,
While I look out the window, calm and ready for it all.
"I am powerless, yes I am powerless,"
Not a failure, not a weakness to confess.
Before the story "should" installed its long and toxic claim,
"I am powerless," alive and free inside reality's game.
The stress, the guilt, the overwhelm, the pressure without end,
All trace back to one belief that doesn’t want to bend.
"I should be able to do something," whispers underneath the weight,
A war with what is real, and one you’ve never won to date.
Celebrate it first, before you act on your desires,
The honest ground of powerlessness is what influence requires.
You cannot push the river, but you still can choose your oar,
First arrive with empty hands, then discover what's in store.
"I am powerless, yes I am powerless,"
Not a failure, not a weakness to confess.
Before the story "should" installed its long and toxic claim,
"I am powerless," alive and free inside reality's game.
"We are powerless," though most have yet to know,
Still fighting what is real from battles long ago.
I hold it for the others who’ve not yet found this sacred ground,
The gift of letting go of force, and all the peace that's found.
"I am powerless, yes I am powerless,"
Not a failure, not a weakness to confess.
Before the story "should" installed its long and toxic claim,
"I am powerless," alive and free inside reality's game.
